This course is created for Personal Assistants, people who employ PAs and anyone with an interest in Personal Assistance.
The module has been designed so that Personal Assistants can work through it together with their Employer, but it can also be done on your own too.
By completing this course you will learn:
- where the concept of Personal Assistance came from, how it is designed to uphold human rights and the values and principles of Self-directed Support
- how the role of Personal Assistant is different from other roles in social care
- what makes a great PA
- the unique role of the Personal Assistant Employer
- how to improve your practice as a PA and work well with your Employer (and the person you assist if your Employer is someone different).
Throughout the course there will be the opportunity to “Think about…” what you are learning and how it applies to your role as a PA. Completing these reflections are necessary to achieve a certificate for the course.
